Our Services

Paediatric radiology is diagnostic radiology focused on children, from babies to young adults. At Envision Medical Imaging, our Paediatric radiologists have specialised knowledge of medical conditions that affect infants, children and young people and can use imaging techniques that may prevent the need for more invasive diagnosis such as exploratory surgery. Our Paediatric radiologists are highly trained to understand which tests are most appropriate for the child, and to make sure the testing is safe and carried out properly.

Our highly trained medical imaging team are aware of the special needs of children and work to make our imaging services as stress-free as possible for children and their carers. We offer all aspects of Paediatric imaging including MRI, Ultrasound, X – Ray and low dose – CT studies interpreted by our highly experienced Radiologists.

Paediatric radiology employs a range of modalities including:

X-Ray

Nuclear Medicine

Envision offers a wide bore MRI scanner allowing easy visibility and patient contact that minimise claustrophobia and are ideal for children. We have GP rebatable scans for paediatric patients (less than 16 years) for Brain, Spine, Knee, Hip, Elbow and Wrist scans.  All paediatric rebatable scans are performed on 3T MRI, which provides optimal image quality in a shorter time.

Specific Pediatric imaging tests offered at Envision MI include Paediatric Ultrasound for the following areas:

Our Paediatric Medical Imaging Equipment

Our practice is equipped with state-of-the-art digital equipment including 1.5T MRI, 3T MRI, The revolutionary Force multislice CT with cardiac capability, ultrasound, and the latest in filmless digital reporting and image archiving and distribution to ensure the highest level of diagnostic service for paediatric patients.

Our up-to date ultrasound technology in three examination rooms is operated by Envision Medical Imaging’s highly experienced sonographers, each with over ten years experience in ultrasound imaging. Our sonographers specialise in vascular, musculoskeletal, obstetrics (pregnancy), paediatrics and general ultrasound. More about Ultrasound

OPG

Panoramic radiographs, more commonly known as OPGs (orthopantomograms), are a special panoramic picture of your jaws. OPGs can be used for a variety of purposes from impacted wisdom teeth, checking development of teeth in children and as general screening as part of your dental check-up. The Lateral Ceph and/or PA Cephs (or cepahlometry examination) are used for checking your facial bones and occlusion, often used in orthodontics. While many radiology practices are digital, all Envision OPG and Ceph machines use only direct capture sensor technology which are capable of producing some of the lowest radiation doses possible. More about OPG and Lat Ceph

Ultra low radiation dose levels for every patient, every time

Cone Beam CT is a scan which allows 3D visualisation of the teeth, jaws and face. It is one of the more recent developments in dental imaging. It provides clinicians with much more information about these structures to help with optimal diagnosis and treatment or surgical planning. Envision has two of the leading Cone Beam CT scanners, the iCAT and Sirona Gallileos, at our Wembley and Booragoon rooms. We also have the only i-Cat Cone Beam scanner south of the river at our Booragoon practice. Both these machines are capable of ultra-low dose imaging, comparable to doses delivered in many common dental X-rays. More about Cone Beam

MRI

Envision has two high quality, modern wide-bore MRI scanners (1.5T & 3T). This ensures better images and a far more comfortable experience for patients than many other scanners in WA. Countless patients have experienced the positive difference we provide – our team of caring MRI technicians puts them at ease, even if they are anxious or have had a bad experience in the past. Most importantly, the excellent image quality allows for accurate diagnosis by our specialist MRI Radiologists. More about MRI

CT

Envision is the only private practice with the new state of the art Siemens CT Somatom Force.  Force mode scanning completes a study in less than a second, at even lower dose, providing better image quality.  In addition, the protocols are personally prescribed by our radiologists to ensure extremely low levels of radiation, while maintaining optimal image quality. What remains the same is the high quality interpretation by specialists who are experts in their field. The low radiation that you receive from our multi-slice CT scans is comparable to many common dental X-ray series. We choose Siemens CT scanners because they include control mechanisms that automatically adjust the radiation dose level to the patient’s anatomy, keeping dose to a minimum.  It is similar to a highly sophisticated camera’s automatic exposure mode and delivers optimum low dose with high quality images. More about CT
PET-CT (Positron Emission Tomography – Computed Tomography) is a Nuclear Medicine procedure in which the distribution of a small amount of a radioactive compound injected into the body is imaged at the same time a low dose CT scan is taken. Envision continues to be at the forefront of medical imaging innovation with the introduction of the new Siemens mCT Flow PET-CT. The Siemens mCT Flow PET/CT is the first of its kind to offer personalised imaging, resulting in reduced scan time, a lower radiation dose and a better patient experience. The dual technology of our Siemens PET/CT scanner, located in Envision’s purpose build facilities opened in 2017, allows for the most accurate anatomical localisation of any significant pathology. This assists specialists with the most accurate cancer diagnosis, staging, and measuring the effectiveness of treatments. More about PET-CT
